Last year at this time I was dealing with a possible (and eventually, an actual) cancer diagnosis (malignant melanoma which fortunately had not spread). I made some progress on 2012's resolutions.
This year, by contrast, I'm keeping my resolutions very streamlined and straighforward. The more concrete I can make them, the more likely I am to achieve them, I think.
The first three have to do with work, the last two have to do with health. It's those last two that will probably give me the greatest trouble, though I'm sure I'll angst plenty over the first three as well.
- Submit manuscript for academic book to publisher by deadline (December 31, 2013)
- Write first draft of Book 1 in romance trilogy
- Revise, place, and publish POTO article
- Lose 20 pounds
- Incorporate regular exercise 3-4x a week
I think I need to write these on a card and keep it near me on a daily basis. It's too easy when I'm in the midst of a writing project and freaking out about that for me to forget that I also want to exercise regularly and to forego dragging my butt away from the computer for a walk or a session on my elliptical.
So let's see how I do. All good cyber energy sent my way in the coming year is much appreciated. Back at you all!
