It's that time again -- time to set my writing and blogging schedule for the four-month semester that begins on January 25.
I've had a decent period of down time during winter break (for me, the break began on December 21). With the exception of prepping for spring semester courses, I did no work. Perhaps that's because I was completely exhausted from the Semester from Hell in the fall.
(And because my iron levels were so low that I was severely anemic, a situation which was not remedied until yesterday through a really long session involving IV iron infusion. No wonder all I really wanted to do was sleep!)
I'd intend to get some much-needed writing done. Specifically, as I wrote in an earlier post, I wanted to revise an article for probable publication. That hasn't happened yet. The road to hell and all that.
And it needs to happen soon because 1) a journal refused it but suggested I revise and resubmit it, so I need to strike while the iron is ... er, lukewarm; 2) I need to publish more for tenure.
(Does it count that I had a peer-reviewed article published last month? Yeah, but there's no resting on your laurels when you're a junior faculty member. And anyway, my laurels are a bit sparse when it comes to publications.)
So ... here's my writing plan from now through May:
- To post twice a week about the writing process here on WordFlix (targeted days: Tuesday and Friday)
- To devote 3 hours a day twice a week to my research and writing (targeted days: Thursday and Friday)
