If you're not into NaNoWriMo, then this video snippet will seem silly.
But if you are, then you'll smile at Chris Baty's encouragement, be motivated by his sense of humor, and admire how NaNoWriMo started with him and 20 of his friends in 1999, and has now expanded to include tens of thousands of people around the world.
And you'll think, "That work I was going to do first thing this morning? It can wait a few more hours. I've got to write my novel first." And since today is Sunday, that's true.
This is my first year doing NaNoWriMo.
For me it's about trying something I've never really tried before as an adult (i.e., writing fiction). It's about goal-setting, meeting those goals, and banishing my inner editor for 30 days. It's about having intermittent escapes from an intense work environment.
Oh yeah. and it's about having fun, too.
If you're doing NaNoWriMo, how's your experience going so far?
