Really useful post today from Candace Havens @ Genreality regarding concrete writing goals and both short- and long-term time-management. Her words are applicable to all kinds of writing projects.
Creating realistic goals, chunked out into manageable phases, and managing my time have helped me become more productive and more accountable (to myself!). They've also increased my faith in my own abilities, both professionally (in my academic life) and personally.
Because I have NaNoWriMo on the brain at the moment, I particularly liked the way in which Candace frames possibilities for immediate action and results:
Sit down right now and answer the following:
1. What do you want to accomplish this week with your writing?
2. What are two things today you can do to make that happen?
3. What is one thing you can do each day to make that happen?
With the calendars and forums available at the NaNoWriMo site and yWriter5, I have the tools I need to power through November.
(Plus coffee and chocolate, of course. But those go without saying.)
Are you ready? The clock is ticking ...!
